February 2024 at St Brendan’s GAA

The onfield action at St Brendans GAA club got underway when both Mens Football teams got their respective divisions up and running.

The 1st XV, sponsored by Dynamic Safety Solutions were due to face St Brigids at Tom Russell Park at 12.15pm. However, the game was moved to The Civil Service grounds in Islandbridge with a 1.15pm throw in. The new venue and throw in time did not deter St Brigids who were 0-13 to 0-11 winners with Diarmuid Cooney the best player for The Dark Force.

The 2nd XV, in partnership with Stoneybatter pride of place would rather forget about their opening Division 10 North fixture quickly and were comprehensively beaten 2-19 to 0-6.

On February 25th, The Hurlers, sponsored by Bodibro, got off to a positive start on AHL7 when travelling to Tymon Park and defeating St Judes 2-15 to 1-16 with just 15 players available. A victory described by Cian Walsh and an excellent win against the a team relegated from AHL6 last year. The Goal Getter Gavin Muldoon and Jack McGrath getting the majors and JJ ‘72’ Lennon scoring a good number of free in’s.

On March 2nd The Mens 1st XV played their first AFL5 game of the season in Grangegorman, but it was another morning to forget for The Dark Force as St Vincents 2nd XV, ran out comprehensive winners 3-15 to 0-4 but the away team could have got more than three goals when a penalty hit the butt of the post and a player when in a good position, started barging through the St Brendan's backs and conceded an unnecessary free out which resulted in the home sides 4th point curtesy of John Burns.
