Another busy week for St Brendan’s GAA Club with 5 Adult teams in action over three midweek days.

As I said in the headline, this report is bought to you by three numbers and here’s the reason why.

2: Two wins were recorded on Wednesday.

3: Both Men’s and Ladies 1st XV’s made it three consecutive wins.

7: For the third consecutive match, The Ladies 1sts scored seven goals.

But first, let’s rewind the clock back 24 hours.

At St Anne Park Pitch 10 in Raheny, The St. Brendan’s Camogie team, sponsored by Comtech Engineering and Ryans of Camden Street faced home side Raheny, hope to make it back to back wins. But it wasn’t to be for the Dark Force Camogs as the home side maintained pressure on Commercials at the top of the Junior 2 League table with a 4-9 to 3-8 win.

On Wednesday, There was a double header in Grangegorman of Ladies Football.

At 7pm, the 2nds, Sponsored by Bartra Healthcare took on St Finians Swords in Ladies Adult League 7, but were defeated on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-5. Niamh O’Dowd scored both goals for The Female Darkest Force. Also, one player of note for St Finians Swords was Eimear Crosbie, whose father Ciaran played full back for St Brendan’s from 2007 to 2009.

At 8.15pm, the 1sts, Sponsored by McGowans of Phibsborough, took on Lucan Sarsfields in Ladies Adult League 4. As I said at the top of the report, The Female Dark Force scored 7 goals and also scored 12 points, just like two weeks ago. Lucan Sarsfields in reply, scored 1-4.

Also that evening, this time in Longmeadows. The Mens Football 1st XV, sponsored by Dynamic Safety Solutions, bid for three consecutive wins in AFL6 against bottom of the table Kilmacud Crokes, and duly prevailed on a final score of 3-20 to 3-10. The Dark Force were leading 1-11 to 1-3 at half time with Washington Sean Whelan bagging a brace of two pointers and The Valley Rover Tadhg O’Brien scoring the first half goal.

In the second half, Whelan continued his fine two pointer scoring form with another such score. Harry ‘1991’ Beggy and Padraig McKenna raised the second half green flags, The Bombscare Donal Clarke and Adam ‘Wishful Thinking’ Lynch also scoring singles.

However, on Thursday, the Mens Football 2nd XV, were beaten by O’Tooles.
