It was a very competitive game from the throw in, with the ball moving briskly between both ends of the pitch for much of the game. Early on, Aoibhe made a great save on the goal line to deny the first score to Stars of Erin.

The defensive line of Elsie, Siún and Ellie had a great first half. Shots were blocked and swiftly cleared up the pitch. On many occasions, we moved the ball from the defense, through midfield and on to the forward line in 2 kicks with different players involved.

Balls were being fought over, and chased after, all over the pitch and none more so than by Abigail while playing in mid field where she covered a lot of ground. Beau, Dulcie and Elise were trying hard to get through the oppositions defense line.

After some lovely hand passing moves from Anna to Dulcie and on to Elise, Elise opened the scoring with a point for St Brendan's. Stars of Erin came fighting back and got an equaliser.

Late in the first half, Anna had her shot at goal saved, before Elise took her chance with the rebound and got a goal for her efforts.

Beau, Dulcie and Elise formed a strong defensive line during the second half. At one point, Dulcie performed a fantastic blocking move and quickly cleared the ball up the line.

Ellie covered a lot of ground during the second half from the mid field position and even had time to get a number of scores. Elsie also had a great game in the forward position and was very unlucky not to convert her chance on the goal line into a score.

Anna performed the ‘ballerina’ move a number of times during the game to great effect, slipping by the opposition with ease. A great skill we’d like to see more of!

Tiredness was clearly setting in for the latter stages of the match, but the girls dug deep to kept going resulting in a number of scores toward the end of the game for their efforts. Multiple scores during the game were lead by Elise and Ellie.

We kicked a few wides during the game and did a little too much hand passing in front of the opposition’s goal – so there’s room for improvement! - but it was a great performance overall and the evenly matched sides made of an exciting game of football. Well done all!

Congratulations to Abigail who was voted player f the week!!
